Qualifications
Applicants that are completing or have completed either A-Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma will be considered in the same way as UK applicants. For details of the IB and A-Level requirements for individual degree programmes, please refer to the undergraduate admissions pages. Neither the Chinese High School leaving certificate or Goakao are sufficient for entry to a SOAS undergraduate degree.

English Language Requirements
Applicants whose first language is not English must show that their level of English is sufficient to follow an academic programme at SOAS. Our requirements currently include:
Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with 6.5 in writing, and 6.0 in reading, speaking and listening.
SOAS offers a range of pre-sessional or in-sessional courses for those who do not meet the exact English entry requirements, so that students have the opportunity to improve their language skills before beginning their academic study.
If you would like to improve your English language before studying for a degree, please browse our Foundation and English Language programmes page.
